Have you ever hear someone say they have had an arthroscopic surgery, or a “scope” before? This type of surgery allows surgeons to visualize a joint through a small portal hole and using a surgical camera. This avoids having to make a large incision. Not all surgeries can by performed this way, but arthroscopic knee surgeries are very common. Our physicians at SCSM perform hundreds of arthroscopies on many different joints each year.
